Justin Jacobs
Pianist, Teacher, Accompanist, Music Director

After completing a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Melbourne, I was employed by the Victoria State Opera and Opera Australia, where I worked for three years as an accompanist and vocal coach. I was appointed Director of Music at the National Theatre Music Theatre Department in 1997 and went on to conduct and musically direct several Broadway productions playing in Australia, among them “Fiddler on the Roof”, “The Boy from Oz,” and “Forbidden Broadway.” When not touring with these productions in Australia, I maintained a busy schedule as a piano teacher and accompanist, working regularly with celebrated Australian singers and major choral ensembles including the Melbourne Chorale, for whom I was the official accompanist for five years. During this time, I studied regularly with the brilliant pianist and teacher, Caroline Almonte, in Melbourne.
In 2000, I moved to New York, to continue my piano studies with the Taubman Institute and later the Golandsky Institute. I studied privately with master teacher, Edna Golandsky in weekly lessons for 15 years. While studying in New York, I worked as a piano teacher and accompanist, organist and music director. I was the music director of the US-based "Greensboro Arts Alliance and Residency" in Vermont for seven years. I have continued my studies with Edna Golandsky in lessons via Skype, since returning to Melbourne in late 2015.
