What makes Justin stand out from other teachers, is that he is teaching you HOW to play the piano, beyond simple note reading or learning singular pieces. Rather, you are gaining a complete understanding between the relationship of the pieces and how it should be played effortlessly. Some of these techniques are understanding hand positioning, body positions, movement around the keys and music theory/patterns. This enables you to learn how to read, breakdown and play many pieces. This is an unique method of piano teaching, especially for kids, which accelerates the knowledge and playing of the piano.
Justin is able to understand the learning style of the student and is able to continually adapt his teaching to suit their needs. You never feel rushed and he thinks about the students' needs even after the lesson is finished. The kids always look forward to their lessons. They have continually said as long as Justin is teaching, there is no one else they want to learn piano from.

Our daughter is 5½ years old and has been learning piano for 2 years now with Justin. Neither of us have ever played an instrument and one of our goals as parents was to enrich our daughter with the ability to play music. I have been studying with Justin every week for the past one-and-a-half years: exclusively online, because of the distance between our locations. Justin explains very clearly how theory relates to my pieces, and how best to move my hands at the keyboard in any given passage. His original and unique approach to fingering has made even the most difficult pieces attainable. Each week after the lesson, he provides me with short teaching videos to help and guide my practice.

Justin is not only an excellent, talented musician himself, he is one of the best piano teachers I’ve ever seen. He has been my daughter’s piano teacher for the past two years. My daughter has advanced so much: from knowing nothing about piano or musical notes to preparing to sit for the AMEB Grade 7 exam in just two years. Almost a year and a half out of these two years were online lessons. His capability to deliver the lessons online is similar to in person. His teaching style is a combination of patience and understanding the child’s ability, recognising what the child needs to improve on and delivering that in a fun and simple way. He is a thorough instructor. He is very positive with his feedback to my daughter which encourages her to improve without feeling any stress. His support, encouragement and strong teacher-student bond has meant so much for my daughter and contributed to her increased passion to learn the piano. He teaches her how to connect with and feel the piece of music that she is playing.

Justin Jacobs is one of the kindest humans I have had the privilege to work with.
